iPad specific features

Here’s a few iPad specific features I’d love to see that would really take advantage of the touch screen and Apple Pencil. I’m not sure how hard these would be to implement but some of these features would make certain modeling operations far more intuitive in Valence than any other program.

  1. Curve / Spline tools with extrusion ability (both 3D extrusion from a closed curve and pipe type extrusion. Drawing curves with the Apple Pencil would be a dream.

  2. Custom pie menu with squeeze gesture.

  3. Light animation features. Even if it’s limited to transform, rotation and scale variables.

  4. Ability to use a higher density lidar scan for iPads with M1 or better.

As a fellow developer, I have the upmost respect for you doing this fantastic work as a solo dev. I hope Valence will gain the success it deserves so it can continue to grow. Also much respect to you for using a one time purchase model. I hope that continues even if you have to one day bridge off a “Valence 2” with an upgrade fee.

Thank you for the feedback @Vizmystech! I’ve noted your suggestions and will try to roll them into version 2.

#4 might be hard since the lidar density depends on the iPad sensor and I have no control over that. But I’ll see if there is a better approach in software to make it better.

Split-view would be nice too !

Tried it few mins ago because I liked to drag a reference picture from safari into valence, valence told me that it is not supported…

Thanks for the note. Split-view is something I had in Valence, but had to take out because of all the different iPad sizes. Split view make using Valence essentially un-usable on an iPad Mini.

I’ll keep trying to improve the UI to make this happen (eventually). My top priority at the moment is to fix crashes.
